Nobody can kiss someone randomly: Kajal Aggarwal
Kajal Aggarwal chats with DC on her latest smooching controversy, talks of her upcoming marriage and more.
Chennai almost feels like a second home to Kajal Aggarwal; work draws her to the city every month. Right now, the actress is shooting for two films — Kavalai Vendam and Garuda, and we got an opportunity for a short chat with her at the launch of a well-known clothing retail store, which she was promoting.
Sauntering in late — she sure knows how to make an entrance — Kajal was dressed for the summer in the most comfortable blue rompers and white loafers, accessorised with her personal favourite — a casual, faded blue denim jacket.
Showbiz is a busy life, but she loves every bit of it — even the lows. All week, an image of her kissing Randeep Hooda, her co-star in Do Lafzon Ko Kahani, has been making its rounds. Leaked from the sets, speculation was that it was not part of the script at all, and had taken Kajal by surprise. Reports also suggested that the actress was none too happy about the incident or the gossip that followed.
“There was nothing spontaneous about the scene. Nobody can kiss somebody randomly during a shoot — we’re all professionals. It was a scripted scene and very essential to the story. I play a visually-impaired girl and for her to express love or intimacy, obviously there needs to some form of physical connect. Yes, I did have my hesitations, and I feel the same otherwise as well. In most of my films down south, I usually cheat on my kisses or it’s not a full-on lip-lock!” she clarifies.
Talking further about her role in Do Lafzon…, she describes the experience as extremely challenging. “This is the first time I’m playing a person with a handicap and a lot of research went into it. I interacted and learnt from a lot of people at the Xavier’s Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged (XRCVC), read books on Helen Keller, basics of Braille and much more,” she says.
Between work commitments and preparing for a role, she admits that there isn’t much time for anything else. Our curiosity piques then and it’s time to address another rumour — any plans to get married? Adorably, Kajal blushes — “I have no idea how these things start! No, marriage isn’t in the cards for me. Because, A: No man; B: No man! (laughs) And no time.” Still, the grapevine will keep speculating, as it does around every successful star!
