Sriram Raghavan's take on the digital space
Sriram says, Of course, it is the future of cinema, but as an alternative means of expression. And yes, it is interesting.
Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, who is still basking in the success of Andhadhun, is fascinated by the digital space and feels it could be the future of cinema.
Sriram says, “Of course, it is the future of cinema, but as an alternative means of expression. And yes, it is interesting.” When asked if he would like to explore the web space, the director says, “Imagine getting eight hours to tell a story and if the story requires that amount of time, then why not? If the budgets are right, why not? I feel like doing it because it’s a new medium. I am waiting for the right story, then even I will take the plunge.”
However, he hopes that the digital space will not completely eliminate cinema halls. “I feel terrible, but I myself have not gone to a cinema hall for the longest time. I used to go and watch two movies a week. What happens is people just look at a film and decide, ‘this we can watch in next one month when it comes on TV’. So we have to try and find interesting subjects. But yes, it’s scary.”
