There have been numerous cases of celebrities being criticised or trolled on various online platforms. While some react, which in turn escalates the discussion, many prefer not to react. However, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja feels that there is no point in getting offended. “At the end of the day, I’m in a position of power which is way more privileged from other. So, I actually feel really sorry for the people who are negative or who are so-called “trolls” because if that’s the meaning of their existence then it’s a very sorry existence,” shares Sonam.

For Sonam, her journey in the industry has been an educational one. She says, “My journey in Bollywood has been a great learning experience and I hope I have grown as a person and an artist.” But she is a greedy actor, “In terms of scripts, I always look for something different that makes me a better actor,” she adds.

The 32-year-old strongly feels that women are often placed on a wrong pedestal. “I think women should be allowed to be human as well. They are under constant pressure and are oppressed. Unfortunately, over the years women have started to think that they need to follow the do’s and dont’s, and doing something otherwise will make them less desirable. ”

Talking about her character in the upcoming movie Veere Di Wedding, the newlywed with traces of her mehndi still on, says, “My character Avni, is a perfectionist. She is a lawyer. I did a lot of research as I love to add authenticity to each role.”

While many had anticipated the newlywed will take a break from her hectic professional life, Sonam has proved them all wrong. Post her marriage she was off to Cannes and is now travelling across India, promoting her film which is to release this Friday.

For now, her schedule is jam-packed. “I have Sanju coming out soon. Then there is Ek Ladki Ko Dekha to Aisa Laga, followed by Zoya Factor,” concludes Sonam.
