Bollywood producer Firoz Nadiadwala appears before Chennai court

The producer has made several films including Welcome, Phir Hera Pheri, and Awara Pagal Deewana.

CHENNAI: Noted Bollywood producer, Firoz A. Nadiadwala appeared before a city court on Monday in connection with a complaint registered against him for allegedly cheating a financier.  The producer has made several films including Welcome, Phir Hera Pheri, and Awara Pagal Deewana.

Issuing a warrant against him, the XVII Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet, recently directed Inspector of Juhu police station, Mumbai, to produce him before the court on June 27. Based on the petition by Nirmal Kumar Maheswari, a financier of Chennai, the Magistrate had issued a warrant against Nadiadwala.

When the matter came up for hearing, the producer appeared before the court and submitted that a case relating to the transaction was pending before Juhu police station and in the court.

He sought the court's permission to conduct the proceedings in Mumbai court. After rejecting his request, the MM, S. K. Angalaeswari, directed him to produce all documents before the court on July 18.
