Mumbai: After his popular ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ went off air due to his creative differences with the channel, Kapil Sharma had made a strong comeback with ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ on a new channel.

Despite not starting on a great note, the actor-comedian brought it to the top gradually.

Like his previous show, ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ consistently received good ratings and always stayed among the best performing shows.

However, one controversy had caused immense damage to the show and threatened to damage the actor-comedian’s career as well.

Kapil’s ugly altercation with his then co-star Sunil Grover on a flight when he verbally abused him and even flung a shoe at him led to the latter’s exit from the show and other actors like Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar also followed him out of the show.

As a result, the ratings of the show have now hit an all-time low. As per the latest data by BARC India, the ratings have fallen to half, from 7 million impressions to 3.9 million impressions in the past one month after the incident grabbed headlines.

Numerous reports of the channel planning to pull the plug on the show, have got further strengthened with these low ratings.

The show might have just celebrated its 100th episode, but it seems a challenging task for the makers to bring it back to the top.

It now remains to be seen what Kapil could plan to revive the ratings and his career.
