B-town boy heats up our ooru

Ask actor Aditya Roy Kapur how Bengaluru is treating him, and he says matter-of-factly, “I was actually here a week ago. Though I didn’t spend any time here, I stopped by before going to Mysore to shoot for Sadak 2.” But he has spent time in Bengaluru over the years. “When I was a presenter with Channel V, I did a show back then where we met different personalities from the city. So, I have gotten around the place a lot previously,” reveals the actor, who states that the traffic here isn’t as bad as Mumbai’s. “Mumbai has some catching up to do. Bengaluru has been great for today,” smiles the actor, who’s pretty sure that he’s going to use the pheromone-activating spray by Skore Condoms that he’s here to launch.

As for Sadak 2, which is in the news for being Mahesh Bhatt’s comeback film as a director after 20 long years, the buzz around it is high. Aditya will star alongside Alia Bhatt and the original actors of Sadak, Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt. How has the experience of working with the Bhatts been? “It’s been lovely.

 I’ve already done one movie with them and it’s nice to come back into the frame with Bhatt-saab directing after so long. The energy, excitement and exuberance with which he’s approaching the film and directing us on set is infectious. You get to go on set excited when he’s around. It’s a dream to work on this film,” he reveals.  

With him working with Alia yet again, how is the equation between the two of them? This is our third movie after Dear Zindagi (in which I had a cameo) and Kalank. She’s a wonderful co-actor - committed and focused. It’s really nice working again with Sanju-sir after Kalank. It feels so familiar to come together again and now, it’s a different dynamic, which a good thing,” he states.

How did he deal with the failure of the mega-budget Kalank? “You put so much into every film and this one was no different. We worked really hard on it. No one can fault us in that regard. The effort was there to be seen. Sometimes, things don’t go as you like – that’s the nature of the business. If you want to spend a long period of time doing this, you have to find ways to deal with it and make sure that things don’t take you too high or too low. It’s important to take everything in your stride, learn from it and give your best again,” he is philosophical.

Despite not having too many successes at the box office, Aditya continues to be one of the most sought-after leading men in B-town. His upcoming flicks include Anurag Basu’s yet-to-be-titled project and Malang, in which he stars opposite Disha Patani. He elaborates, “Malang is a comeback with Mohit Suri after Aashiqui 2. It’s been a six-year gap. We’re done shooting the film and I’m excited about it. It was a different experience this time – we are both older and hopefully, wiser, but it was just as intense, fun and fulfilling. It’s an interesting genre for both of us to tackle together. It’s unlike Aashiqui 2 and that was thrilling for both of us.”

As someone who’s stayed away from social media for long, Aditya finally joined Instagram this year, much to the delight of his fans, especially the ladies. “I’m not on it on a day-to-day basis. I post when I feel like. I actually do feel better that I have a platform to express myself on if I want to. I’m happy I have come on to it but I’m also glad I haven’t gotten sucked into it,” he quips the actor who, according to a recent report, is set to get engaged to his rumoured girlfriend Diva Dhawan. .
