Janhvi Kapoor is not only the successor of her late mother, Sridevi, but a reminder of her on every stage including off it. On Tuesday as she does yearly, Janhvi visited the Tirupati temple in celebration of Sridevi’s birth anniversary which has been an annually held tradition that holds deeply personal meaning for her.

Janhvi took to Instagram and shared three emotional pictures having captioned them “Happy birthday Mumma I love you.” One photograph displayed the famous steps leading into the Tirupati temple, signifying that Janhvi could have climbed them like always on foot to honor her mother.

The second picture was a nostalgic memory from Janhvi’s childhood days as she posed with Sridevi in a tender moment. In it, a young Janhvi wore a white top with matching ribbons in her pigtails while embraced by her mother who had on a beige top. The third photo showed what Janhvi wore when she went to the temple last week -a yellow silk sari paired with turquoise printed blouse accented with golden prints. She completed this look with traditional gold jewelry including earrings, necklace and kamarband also Forhead tilak and closed eyes in silent prayer.

A video clip circulating on social media shows Shikhar Pahariya accompanying his girlfriend during their visit to the temple. Shikhar is seen dressed in veshti while he performs dandvat pranam (a traditional form of prostration) along Janhavi before the idol. Later they are noticed together coming out of temple premises under tight security.

Khushi Kapoor who is Janhvi's sister and their father Boney Kapoor came together with other family members for similar reasons to pay tribute to Sridevi's 61st birthday anniversary. Khushi posted photos from her childhood and Boney put up a still from Sridevi’s 2012 English Vinglish, accompanied by the caption “Happy birthday jaan .”

Sridevi, an iconic actress with a more than five-decade-long career known for her versatility and unforgettable performances in films of different languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Her legendary roles in movies like Chandni, Mr. India and English Vinglish have left indelible imprints on Indian cinema. She died tragically in 2018 due to drowning.
