Jake Gyllenhal just confirmed his role in the next Spider-Man flick, reports JustJared.com. The actor put up a video on Instagram — marking his debut on the photo-sharing social media platform — and was heard saying, “Whoa, what the f**k.”

Jake was seen reading a spiderman comic, The Return of the Man Called Mysterio, which was followed by the exclamation. The actor captioned the video, “I just realized I am not playing spider-man (sic),” which confirms that Jake is in fact playing the villian Mysterio.

The talks about casting the actor had started almost six months back, and he was up against some influential names such as Ryan Gosling!

Mysterio made his first appearance issue #13 of comic book The Amazing Spider-Man in 1964 and was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the men responsible for giving Spider-Man to the world.
