Shriya Sharma to romance Dhruv Vikram?
Varma is being directed by national award-winner Bala, and it marks Chiyaan Vikram's son Dhruv's K-Town debut.
A while ago, we reported that former child artist Shriya Sharma of Sillunu Oru Kadhal fame was likely to be roped in to play the female lead in Varma, the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy. That news has now been confirmed by sources close to the project.
Varma is being directed by national award-winner Bala, and it marks Chiyaan Vikram's son Dhruv's K-Town debut. It was speculated that Akshara Haasan and Gautami's daughter Subbulaxmi were being considered for the role essayed by Shalini Pandey in the original, but now, tinsel town is abuzz with the news that it is Shriya Sharma who's the frontrunner. The casting is likely to be finalized in a couple of days.
Shooting for Varma began in Kathmandu, Nepal, earlier this year. And a schedule was recently wrapped up in Chennai. Vikram is believed to have accompanied his son for the shoots. The doting father even invited Vijay Devarakonda, who played the lead in the original, to spend some time discussing the role with Dhruv. The actor is thought to have given the debutant some invaluable tips.
Filmmaker Raju Murugan, who is known for his intense films, is writing the dialogues for Varma.
