Romantic thriller with 3 Nagin women vying for Jai
Produced by Sridhar Arunachalam, the film, which received ‘U’ Certificate, will hit cinema halls on May 10.
Neeya 2 featuring Jai and three heroines — Catherine Tresa, Raai Lakshmi and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar — is not a revenge film; it’s a romantic thriller. I used the title derived from 1979 Kamal Haasan- Sripriya starrer Neeya, a blockbuster trendsetting snake movie only for the recall value and the evergreen Ore Jeevan Ondre Ullam song from Neeya has been used and picturised with Varalaxmi. So, the similarities end there and Neeya 2 is not a sequel,” clarifies director Suresh.
“It’s a violent love story where three girls battle to accomplish their love. Jai has a dual dimensional role when he appears as an angry young college guy from Madurai in the period segment (1990s) and a suave IT guy in a contemporary city setting. Besides the three heroines, a 25-foot black cobra, which we found in Cobra Village in Bangkok after scouting for several months, plays a crucial role. We also did extensive research on black cobras from trainers based in Indonesia. They said that these cobras have enormous memory power. “
Elaborating more on why they could not use the real serpent in the movie he said, “Initially, we had planned to use a real black cobra, but we learnt that these snakes would shed their skin periodically and change in appearance. So, we opted to go for sequence of graphics of Hollywood standard.”
Suresh said, “All the three heroines have powerful roles.” While Shabir composes the music, Rajvel Mohan cranks the camera. Produced by Sridhar Arunachalam, the film, which received ‘U’ Certificate, will hit cinema halls on May 10.
