Dubsmashing' into K'town
Now, the actress is busy shooting for her debut Tamil film, Nagal, directed by Suresh Kumar.
Not everyone will get a chance to enter the film industry, the way Mirnalini Ravi did! Never in her wildest dreams had she thought that her Dubsmash videos would attract so many followers on social media and they would eventually turn out to be her ticket into Kollywood. Now, the actress is busy shooting for her debut Tamil film, Nagal, directed by Suresh Kumar.
Speaking to DC, Mirnalini says, “I still work for an IT firm and I balance my shooting schedule accordingly. Within two months into ‘Dubsmashing’, I received big offers, but I couldn’t take it up then. Acting was always my passion, but by my parents were uncertain of my future in films. So, it took me time to convince them and when I did, Nagal came my way.”
The film’s story is written with only one character. “This is a travel movie and the problems I encounter when I embark on a journey is what the film is about. Till date, I didn’t give much thought about the fact that I am the only person acting in the film. I play an IT employee and enjoy the process of filmmaking. To me, it is more like Dubsmash because I don’t have any co-star — but this time it is for the big screen,” she discloses.
When asked if her transition into films was easy, she quips, “Director Suresh wanted me react to the situation and nothing overboard. For intense sequences, I would get inputs from him and the entire team. I still have 15 to 20 days of shooting left. I would like to see the reception Nagal gets and decide my next course of action.”
