Temple Monkeys Abdool bags a role with Vijay!
Abdool is doing a significant role which will provide more than comic relief to the film.
The sketch group ‘Temple Monkeys’ is an online sensation and so is one of the actors from the group — Abdool, who has also acted in the web series Ctl Alt Del. Earlier, he made his feature film debut with Adhe Kangal and now, he has made a big leap in his career by bagging a role the ambitious project tentatively known as Vijay 61, helmed by Atlee.
Abdool is doing a significant role which will provide more than comic relief to the film. “The cinematographer GK Vishnu worked in Ctl Alt Del and he is also the cameraman for Vijay 61. During our web series, he praised my acting. So, he chipped in my name for the role and Atlee, who has seen my YouTube videos, okayed it,” Abdool shares the story of landing this role.
He claims that he was not initially aware of the importance of his character — “When I started shooting I didn’t know if my character would be alongside Vijay in the movie for significant screen time. It is needless to say that the film is a big venture with veteran actors, but they made me feel comfortable.”
We then ask the unavoidable question — how was the experience working with Ilayathalapathy? “It was wonderful. He hadn’t seen my troll videos earlier but I told him about my works and then he asked me ‘Ennayum vechu senjurkeengala?’ (have you made fun of me well?). I told him ‘no sir, not yet’ and he went, ‘so, you will do it in the future!’ He takes these things sportively,” Abdool laughs.
