Multi-faceted Sinitha turns actor

Chennai youngster Sinitha is many things at once. She is a trained sprinter, dancer of many styles, student of law, and has done modelling for many known textile brands. Now, she has turned an actor as well with the film Koothan. A dance film, directed by Venky Al, it also has debutant Rajkumar in the lead role. “Nagendra Prasad sir, brother of Prabhudheva sir, is playing the antagonist’s role. I am paired opposite him in the film. Since it is a dance film, there are a lot of sequences in it — and I have an entire segment with Prasad sir where we dance salsa and many other styles,” she elaborates about her role.
Talking about how she landed this film, Sinitha says, “Director Venky and I know each other for a while as we have worked on a few short films. So, when he started this project, he wanted me to play the role. I liked the script and came on board.” The film pans the story of two dance groups and their face off in a huge competition. Nagendra Prasad heads one team and the hero heads the other. Since Sinitha is a trained dancer, it was easy for her to play the role — “I have been practicing classical dance for the past 18 years. I have also been into styles like hip hop, jazz and western.”
She further adds she is an accidental actor and never thought of becoming one — “I am a law student and never thought about acting in the first place. Modelling and dance have been my passion but acting just happened.” However, now she is all in for acting as well, she says, signing off.
