Hansika's thoughtful birthday gesture
Hansika Motwani may not have adopted a child on her 25th birthday but it was special for various other reasons.
A philanthropist from a young age, it’s a well-known fact that Hansika Motwani has been adopting a kid from the lower strata of society — every year on her birthday! Over the years, the actress has ensured she looks after all her adopted kids’ (who are now 31 in number) education and life needs, and is now in the process of constructing a home for them — as well as a senior citizen’s home on a piece of land she bought on the outskirts of Mumbai. But what has she been up to for her birthday this year?
Speaking to DC exclusively, Hansika, who reached the milestone age of 25 on August 9, says, “This year I have not adopted any kid. I am concentrating on the building that I am constructing. There are so many formalities involved. It’s been a wonderful year, though!”
The OKOK girl says that the day started as usual with a Lakshmi pooja at home, after which her friends came home to greet her. “Since my mom is everything to me, I don’t expect anything as a special gift from her. However, she wouldn’t sit idle! I am a big fan of Coca-Cola — so mom ordered a huge cake in the shape of a Coca-Cola bottle, that too in the colour of the soft drink and surprised me!” the Aranmanai star reveals.
Hansika also received a huge bunch of red and white roses, besides bouquets, from friends and well-wishers on her birthday. Instead of piling them all up in her room to let them wither away, Hansika gifted them to old age homes, orphanages and organisations that serve the terminally-ill in Mumbai. “The idea was suggested by one of my close family friends from Chennai. My mom and I loved the idea and we’re glad we could do it,” she says and signs off with a smile.
