Yet another member from maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s family, Ravi Vijay Anand, is making his debut in Tamil cinema. Ravi, son of Raja’s elder sister, is scoring music for a movie titled Ennamma Kadhaiudraanuga. The movie has debutants Arvi, Shalu and Alisha Chopra in the lead and is directed by Francis Raj. At the promo of the film, Ravi’s uncle Gangai Amaran who was among the jury members in National Awards selection clarified that he did not recommend Ilaiyaraaja for a national award for the background score of Thaarai Thappattai. “Being on the jury of an award committee is a tough job. No one can influence anyone there.

It is being done judiciously,” he said and added, “I got the opportunity to watch several Marathi, Gujarati and Hindi films while on the panel. Many of their films made without commercial objectives have won national awards. We should advance our thinking to create films of national and international standards.” Reportedly, Gangai Amaran neither voted for Best Music Director Award category nor did he participate in the final discussion while choosing the Best Music Director for Background Score!
