Team Ameer withdraws from directors union elections
Ahead of the elections (July 21), there is a rift in the union that is split into two teams with one headed by RK Selvamani and other helmed by Ameer.
The Tamil film industry is reeling under several problems including issues related to Nadigar Sangam elections, the situation in Producers Council with government forming an ad-hoc committee and now the latest one is with the Directors Union election. Ahead of the elections (July 21), there is a rift in the union that is split into two teams with one headed by RK Selvamani and other helmed by Ameer.
In an unexpected turn of events, the nominations filed by Ameer and SP Jananathan were rejected by the election officer and in turn the latter had also filed a review petition, which was outright rejected by the officials.
Now we hear that the entire team of Ameer with all top filmmakers has withdrawn their candidatures citing that the officials overseeing the elections are biased. A statement released by Ameer and signed by his team members which include Vetrimaaran, S.P. Jananathan, Samuthirakani, Balaji Sakthivel, Karupalaniappan,’Daya’Senthilkumar, Jagannath, Aslam, Nagendran, Jagadeesh, Balamuralivarman, Virumaandy and Thirumurugan reveals that they are not contesting in the forthcoming Directors Union elections as they feel the polls may not be conducted in a free and fair manner.
