Bommai woos SJ Suryah back to production
Fascinating premise, says actor-director
Versatile actor-director-producer SJ Suryah is excited about the upcoming release of Bommai, a film he not only stars in but has also co-produced. The film directed by Radha Mohan and co-starring Priya Bhavani Shankar is set to hit theatres on June 16.
Opening up about his earlier experiences as a producer, Suryah said, “I began my career as a junior artiste, progressed to directing and acting, and then ventured into production. Unfortunately, I lost substantial money in producing films like Anbe Aaruyire and Isai, which resulted in my having to take a break.” He also mentioned the setback he experienced when a project with Amitabh Bachchan was stalled.
Despite these challenges, Suryah made a successful return as an actor with films like Iraivi, Spyder, Mersal and Monster. Although he had initially decided against returning to production, the unique premise of Bommai inspired him to re-think.
“The concept narrated by Radha Mohan was so fresh and fascinating that I felt compelled to be part of its production, convinced it would succeed,” he shared with a smile.
The film also features actress Chandhini, while Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music.
