Popular Bollywood cinematographer-turned- actor Natraj Subramaniam, is all geared up for his acting venture, Bongu, in which he teams up with Ruhi Singh (of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Calendar Girls). The movie, which is a travel genre, is directed by Taj, a former assistant to Sabu Cyril.

DC caught up with Natty, who spills the beans on his rendezvous with a Rolls Royce, as well as Ruhi Singh! “I play a car mechanic, who later turns car thief. Due to circumstances, I’m drawn into the world of crime. Taj has treated the subject differently,” says Natty,  adding that he had never travelled in a Rolls Royce in his life earlier. The car plays a prominent role in the film.

“I was initially hesitant to drive the car — because even a small scratch would cost a fortune. But I did drive it and it was like a ship on earth, gliding smoothly.”
He added that the producers had spent a lot to bring the car to Gujarat, where a chunk of the film was shot. “We took permission from the Rolls Royce brand to use it for the shoot and the makers were paying close to two and a half lakhs per day as hiring charges. We shot with it for almost a month.”

On co-star, former Miss India Ruhi Singh, he says, “The only grouse I had was that my director did not let me have any duets with her although there’s a romantic portion! It is not the clichéd stuff you see in every film though.”
