My character is sexy and seductive: Regina Cassandra
Regina Cassandra will make her Bollywood debut alongside Big B with Aankhen 2.
After Taapsee, another Tamil-Telugu actress will share the screen with Bollywood’s Amitabh Bachchan. Regina Cassandra, who has carved a niche for herself in the Tamil industry with films like Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga and the upcoming Nenjam Marapathillai, is ecstatic! The Rajathanthiram actress will star in Aankhen 2, a sequel to the 2002 blockbuster of the same name. Opening up to DC, an elated Regina says, “It really feels good! Making it to Hindi films, which is a global platform, is a big feat for an actress from the south. The Aankhen team got to know about me through my work, and I did not even audition. I had to do a photoshoot instead.”
Elaborating on her role in Aankhen 2, she muses, “Like Aankhen, this film is about three blind men involved in a robbery. My character is sexy and seductive, and it has a mix of both good and bad shades. It is a performance-oriented role. I’ve got a few Bollywood offers before, but had to turn them down as they didn’t impress me.” When asked about her meeting with Amitabh Bachchan, she says, “It was the first time I met him. He has a chivalrous personality and he came up to me and said, “We haven’t had the opportunity to meet before. Glad to have your on board.” Right from the director to the producers, they never treated me as a debut actor; they made me a part of the family.”
With Ileana D’Cruz, another Tamil-Telugu actress on board, Regina quips that it is good to have another girl on the team. She considers Ileana to be her senior in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. The ensemble cast of Aankhen 2 includes Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, and Arjun Rampal. The film is expected to start rolling sometime in January.
