Shruti Haasan, who goes to any extent to suit the character she plays, is at it again! The Puli actress, who essays the role of a warrior princess in Arya-Jayam Ravi starrer, Sangamitra, is now training with a professional sword fighting expert and action choreographer in London. According to production sources, Sangamitra, which is directed by Sundar C, is a fictionalised historical drama — but has contemporary issues which people would be able to relate to.

The titular role of Sangamitra is challenging as it involves multiple dimensions. Even the makers had earlier said that they wanted a powerhouse performer for the complex character. An insider source reveals to DC, “Shruti is totally gearing up for her role as Sangamitra. It is a complex, yet fierce character, believed to be that of an expert battle fighter. In order to make sure she leaves no stone unturned, she is undergoing rigorous physical training with a professional coach in London to get every nuance of her character right.”

The source adds, “Shruti is a very focussed and committed actress. She started training with basic movements and manoeuvres, and then brought in the aspects of precision and physical agility. Later, it was accompanied by some intense mind-mapping techniques, which are important aspects of sword fighting.” Production house Sri Thenandal Films, bankrolls this big-budget bonanza.
