Thanjavur Hospital gets a facelift, thanks to Jyotika
The Thanjavur Government Hospital is now a better place, thanks to actress Jyotika.
Jyotika was mired in controversy for making a remark on the poor condition of the Government Hospital. At an awards function earlier this year, the actress had shared her experiences while shooting at the hospital. She had said it was badly maintained and remarked that just like how people put money into temple hundis, money needs to be spent in building schools, and hospitals. “Hospitals and schools are as important as temples and hence donate for them also,” she said.
A few people gave a communal colour to the actress’ comments and started trolling her. However, Jyotika said her speech had been misinterpreted and stood by what she had said. Her husband Suriya supported her stand.
Later, Jyotika walked the talk and donated Rs 25 lakhs to the Thanjavur Government Hospital to buy medical equipment and beds and to improve the paediatric block.
Now, netizens are sharing pictures on their social media handles of the hospital before and after rejuvenation, and praising the star couple’s philanthropic work.
