High on Maanagaram's success
Basking in the film's success, Sundeep reveals that he is overwhelmed with the response.
Actor Sundeep Kishan, who started his career in the industry as an assistant to Gautham Menon in Varanam Aayiram, went on to star in quality films in Tamil and Telugu. His recently-released film Maanagaram, has received rave reviews and is still going strong in Tamil Nadu’s box office.
Basking in the film’s success, Sundeep reveals that he is overwhelmed with the response. “When we made Maanagaram, we were aiming to get critical acclaim. But the magnitude of the commercial success of the film took us by surprise. The entire team dedicated their life and put in their best work,” he starts the conversation.
Sundeep has a spate of films in Tamil and Telugu at different stages of production. “CV Kumar’s Maayavan is an investigative thriller in which I play the role of Kumaran, a cop. I also have Suseenthiran’s Aramm Seidhu Pazhagu, which is a high-energy family drama. Since the movie is a bilingual, we shoot every scene twice and artistes change accordingly,” he adds.
The Yaaruda Mahesh actor has also signed a project with Thiru — “We have been friends for a long time and this film has a quirky concept. It needs a lot of time, so I will be finishing my projects in Tamil and Telugu and devote my time for Thiru’s film.”
When asked if choosing bilinguals is a conscious decision, he shares, “More than the market, I want to do films that I like. I am not in a hurry at this point. The audience should look forward to my movies.”
