She also reveals that Bharathi is someone like her real life self, which also in a way helped her to give her best.
Smruti Venkat, the model turned actress who made an impressive debut in Thadam, has bagged yet another meaty role in the Sathyaraj starrer Theerpugal Virkapadum, directed by Dheran. Based on a true event that shook the nation recently, TV will see Smruti playing a medical student and daughter of Sathyaraj, who essays a gynaecologist.
“The film explores the bond shared between a father and daughter. It’s about how they both travel, especially in testing times. I play Bharathi, an innocent yet assertive and strong girl. I undergo a certain situation, but I will have the support of family which allows me to stay calm and face it boldly,” Smruti says. “Though they were considering me for the plum role even before Thadam’s release, impressed with my performance, they brought me on board.”
On her experiences sharing screen space with Sathyaraj, she says, “It was an amazing experience. Though I did not fear, I was a bit conscious as to how I would perform in front of a veteran like him. However, he made me comfortable and improvised a lot on the spot which helped me improve my spontaneity.” She also reveals that Bharathi is someone like her real life self, which also in a way helped her to give her best.
