Dulquer Salmaan and Bejoy Nambiar join hands!
Bejoy says the shooting will start rolling from October.
Bejoy Nambiar is the one of the most-discussed Malayalis in B’town, where he debuted with a new age film titled Shaithan, bankrolled by Anurag Kashyap. Later he wielded the megaphone for Hindi-Tamil bilingual David, and recently the Amithabh Bachchan-Farhan Akthar starrer Wazir. Now after finding his own space in Bollywood and Kollywood, Bejoy is finally debuting in his mother tongue — Malayalam!
For his debut feature venture in Mollywood, he has approached a big name from the industry to essay the lead role, and it is none other than Dulquer Salmaan.
Confirming the news exclusively to DC, the director says, “Yes, my next film will be in Malayalam. It has been my dream to do a film in my mother tongue since a few years. Now, I am ready with the project. Dulquer Salmaan will be the lead.”
Bejoy says the shooting will start rolling from October. “It will be produced by my own banner Getaway films in association with Abaam films. We are still casting for the rest of the characters,” he says. It is the seventh production venture of Getaway films.
When quizzed about the genre of the film, he says, “As of now, I cannot reveal more about the storyline. All I can say now is that I am trying something new. Something that has not really been done before in Malayalam.”
Though it is his very first feature venture in the language, he has directed a Malayalam short film titled Rahu in 2008. Apart from that, he has directed a silent short film — Reflections, in which Mohanlal played the lead character. After Wazir, Bejoy was busy with working on his mentor Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film, Kaatru Veliyidai.
