Small budget film producers should be encouraged and I am supporting several of them and acting in at least a dozen flicks now. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan became big after acting in many small movies those days. I want media to promote such small films as well so that they get decent number of theaters for release, “ remarked yesteryear heroine Rekha at the audio launch of her upcoming flick Kuska.

Hailing director PC Krishna, a former assistant of Abhavanan and Rangaraj, she said, “There are a lot of commercial films being made now. There’s a dearth of family subjects. Kuska by Krishna is a solid family drama, which has a strong mother sentiment story. There’s a message too. There’s a great writer in Krishna.”

The actress revealed that though she had shared screen space with all top heroes then she did not get an opportunity to act with veteran K. Bhagyaraj. “This film has fulfilled my wish. We play a pair in Kuska. In fact, he directed me in romantic and emotional scenes. I saw the director in him whenever he suggested ideas to me. I felt happy and proud that at least now, I could act in his direction, though indirectly (smiles).”

While child artiste turned actor Kishore plays the lead guy, Sashwatha who has acted in few films essays the heroine. Appukutty, TP Gajendhran, Mayilsamy, Anumohan among others are part of supporting cast.
