Sathyaraj in Sangamithra?
The ambitious project might get even bigger if the veteran actor came on board.
After playing Kattappa in SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali duology, the demand for Sathyaraj has skyrocketed. The Tamil actor has been signed up for some big projects including Vijay’s Mersal and Venkat Prabhu’s multi-starrer Party. Now, speculation that the veteran actor has been considered for a role in Sundar C’s mega budget film, Sangamithra, has become a major talking point in tinsel town.
However, when contacted, a close source to the film’s unit says nothing has been confirmed yet. “We haven’t finalised anything as of now. We are still working on the cast of the film. And we can’t comment on the recent reports.”
Produced by Thenandal Films, Sangamithra is touted to be the next ambitious project of Tamil cinema, starring Arya and Jayam Ravi, with music by AR Rahman. The cast of the film, which is currently in the pre-production phase, has not been announced yet.
The source further adds, “For a film like this, pre production forms 70 per cent of the work. We are currently in the last leg, and will soon announce the cast and other details about the film.”
After Shruti Haasan, who was to play the lead, backed out of the film, for reasons undisclosed, it is reported that Hansika is the front-runner.
