Music’s in her blood
Nikitha is learning both Carnatic as well as western music for a few years now.
Nikitha, 12, seems to have developed interest in singing from her childhood since music was all around her through her father’s compositions. She has crooned a beautiful number ‘Vinnil Vinmeen’ in her dad’s recently released movie Kaappaan.
She says, “I feel very grateful, that I got to sing for him while I know there are many out there who would wait endlessly. I’m blessed this happened to me.” She feels delighted to sing for her father Harris who has been a trendsetter in Tamil film music ever since his first movie Minnale.
Nikitha is learning both Carnatic as well as western music for a few years now. Apart from singing she also aspiries to play instruments like violin and ukulele.
“My parents are my support system, they keep encouraging me. And my brother is my best critic,” relishes Nikitha.
Harris Jayaraj had dedicated his song ‘Unakkenna Venum Sollu’ to his daughter Nikitha. He also hummed a few lines for her during Kaapaan’s audio launch. The song is acclaimed as the best composed tune depicting father-daughter relationship.
“I feel warm and fuzzy inside whenever I hear that song because I think that he composed the song only for me,” she explains. Nikitha also aspires to become a doctor.
“As a mother I can’t be happier than this; she is lucky to be debuting in my husband’s music at such a young age,” says Suma Harris, mother of Nikitha on her daughter opting singing as career. “I would like to see her happy and contented. She has to be independent, strong and a good human being,” hopes Suma.
