All about Nayanthara and Dhanush Controversy
Nayanthara, the Lady Superstar of the Tamil Industry, is celebrating her birthday today, and on the occasion of her birthday, her documentary Nayanthara Beyond the Fairytale is all set to release on Netflix, but the long-awaited documentary has gotten into legal trouble. Let's get to know all about it.
The documentary showcases her life journey from an outsider to the lady superstar and also features her love story with her husband, but a three-second clip from their 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan featuring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupati in lead roles, directed by Vignesh Shivan and produced by Dhanush, was allegedly not approved by the producer. Dhanush and Nayanthara have expressed their anger about the same on her Instagram page with a 3-page letter.
Nayanthara publicly expressed her frustration in this 3-page letter on November 16, and since then the internet has been shocked to know this fact about actor Dhanush.
It all began when Dhanush, the producer of the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, demanded Rs 10 crore for using merely a 3-second video clip, which was a BTS video from the film.
In this letter, she mentioned how Dhanush is harboring a personal grudge against her husband and her relationship and also for denying the request for about 2 years now. She criticized Dhanush for portraying himself as a saint in his audio launch events and giving speeches about women empowerment and everything good while being a bad guy in reality.
Now, Dhanush’s lawyer has addressed the issue, and his statement is going viral on social media. The statement issued by Dhanush's advocate read, "My client is the producer of the film, and they know where they have spent each penny for the production of the film, and your client has stated that my client has not commissioned any person to shoot the behind-the-scenes footage, and the said statement is baseless, and your client is put to strict proof of the same."
Dhanush’s lawyer further stated that his client found the opposing party’s submission to be unclear as it claimed the BTS footage belonged to the individual who recorded it. He further asserted that the clip belonged to his client as the producer of the film.
Dhanush’s lawyer advised the opposing party to remove the content infringing his client’s copyright on the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. He stated that his client would be compelled to pursue appropriate legal action if the clip is not taken down. The lawsuit will include a claim for damages amounting to Rs 10 crores against both the opposing party and Netflix India. Despite all the controversy surrounding the stars, Nayanthara Beyond The Fairytale will be released on Netflix on Monday, November 18.
