Manasilaayo: Fans call Malaysia Vasudevan's voice for Rajinikanth 'gold'

Rajinikanth seems to be in a hurry, as the release of his upcoming film Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel, who also worked on Jai Bhim, is nearing. Just a few days ago, a new dance number was introduced to the audience, which has received a lot of hype. Calling the song "Manasilaayo," this number has the coming back of late Malaysia Vasudevan’s voice with the help of his son Yugendran Vasudevan and composer Anirudh Ravichander using AI.
The song’s release has taken fans back in time as it brings Rajinikanth and Malaysia Vasudevan together after a gap of 27 years. Their last song was ‘Singam Ondru’ for the film Arunachalam in 1997. The new song “Manasilaayo” is said to be a glamorous comeback of the two superstars after a period of separation, and the film’s makers paid their tribute to the reconnection with the respectful short film called “Old is Gold.” The footage highlights some clips of the unheard sounds which have caused a tear to the fan’s eyes due to it being heartwarming.
This feeling of yearning that the song invokes has struck a chord with Rajinikanth’s followers, prompting many to go online. One fan wrote, “Ilayaraja + Malaysia Vasudevan + Rajini , what more can you ask for!” Others have gone ahead to praise the song saying that the moment it was released they have kept it on play since then.
As many must not be aware, a Tamil playback singer Malaysia Vasudevan who passed away in 2011 is considered a legend in the genre and has sung many songs for Rajinikanth. Apart from “Singam Ondru", Vasudevan was famous for other songs such as “Vethalaiya Pottendi” from Billa, “Aasai Nooru Vagai” from Adutha Varisu, and “Yejaman Kaladi Manneduthu” from Yejaman.
In Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth and Manju Warrier come together and “Manasilaayo” has both the banners making thumkas. It is a one man one gun action movie with Rajinikanth playing the role of an IPS officer. Other featured actors include Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati and Rithika Singh with Dushara Vijayan in supporting roles.
Vettaiyan is set to have its grand release on October 10th 2024 and fans eagerly wait for the return of Rajnikanth, once again on the silver screen.
