Specify bad experience in film industry: Sreenivasan
However, Sreenivasan observed that the comment made by Innocent on women in films could have been avoided.
Kochi: Actor Sreenivasan has refuted the controversial statement of AMMA president Innocent on the exploitation of women in the film industry and said that he had never heard of such culture in the film world. He told reporters here on Friday that during his 40 years of experience, he had not witnessed or heard of women working in film industry being exploited. “Those who raise allegations against the anti-women work culture in the industry should make it specific. They should specify the incident or the bad experience they had to face at the workplace. If they have such complaints, they should be lodged with the police authorities,” he said.
He added that he never faced any kind of exploitation in the film industry and that he won’t allow anyone to exploit him. “Film sector is not different from any other field where good and bad things take place,” he said. However, Sreenivasan observed that the comment made by Innocent on women in films could have been avoided. “It is a sensitive topic and people will respond differently to such observations,” he added.
He declined to comment on the actor abduction case saying “investigation is on and it is improper to crucify anyone before the probe is completed.” According to Sreenivasan, AMMA has failed to initiate any schemes for the welfare of actors. Apart from giving the monthly pension to a few financially deprived actors, no steps have been taken. “Though there were several plans, nothing has materialised,” he alleged.
