Malayalam actress abduction: Cops now on trail of madam'

Kochi: The special investigation team (SIT) is likely to effect more arrests in the next couple of days in the actor abduction and sexual assault case with the cops now probing role of ‘Madam’, referred in the letter addressing actor Dileep written from inside the Kakkanad jail at the behest of main accused Pulsar Suni. The SIT is expected to receive the result of the examination of the hard disk of the computer at the online clothes shop owned by Dileep’s wife Kavya Madhavan, and managed by her mother, on Wednesday.

The SIT had sought the services of IT experts after it found that the CCTV footage of three days following the incident in February 17 was removed. The cops suspect the main accused or his representatives reached the shop during this time and handed over the memory card used to record the images of the attack on the female actor. According to sources, the probe is now focused on the close circles of Dileep, including his relatives.

Meanwhile, sources said the statements of Dileep’s confidant Nadirshah and personal secretary Appunni, the link for the telephonic conversation between Dileep and Suni, will be the clincher for the police to prove the case before the court. Though phone call records reveal that Suni contacted Nadirshah and Appunni directly from inside the jail, the case hinges on the police proving the identity of the person on the other side of the phone when the calls from their mobile phones were returned. Nadirshah and Appunny can reveal it, sources say.
