Kerala High Court quashes quick verification against Mohanlal
The actor pointed out that the order was per se illegal.
Kochi: Kerala High Court on Thursday quashed the Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court order directing the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to conduct a quick verification into the allegations against actor Mohanlal over his possession of ivory. The court issued the order after Mohanlal challenged the Vigilance Court decision on a complaint filed by A. A. Poulose of Kochi who contended that he was in illegal possession of two sets of elephant tusks at his Thevara home found during a and income tax search, based on which the forest department had registered a case.
Former forest minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan is the other party in the case. The complainant had alleged that Mohanlal exerted his undue influence with the minister and obtained an illegal order to withdraw the case while he was keeping them since 1988 without intimating the department. The actor pointed out that the order was per se illegal. No offence had been made out against him, and the complaint was with ulterior motives to "wreak vengeance."
