Ashkkar Soudaan feels good to be bad
Two movies released on March 4 Kolamass and Sowcarpettai has Ashkkar Soudaan as the antagonist.
Actor Ashkkar Soudaan is on cloud nine as his dream has finally come true. Two of his movies – Kolamass and Sowcarpettai– were released on March 4. In both the movies, he has donned the role of a villain. “Ever since I started taking cinema seriously, I have been an admirer of antagonists in films. When I ventured into acting, I wanted to be one among them. However, it was always hero roles that came to me. I am glad that things are moving in my direction,” says Ashkkar, who is known by the name Hreshh in Kollywood.
In Kolamass, a Malayalam movie by Sanoop Anil, Ashkkar is playing a business tycoon. Whereas his Tamil flick, Sowcarpettai is a horror film. “The common thread is that in both movies, I am a villain. My character Christy in Kolamass is an entrepreneur who runs a corporate company.Although it is a small film, my character has got clicked.Sowcarpettai talks about intimacy between father and sons. Sons would do anything for their father, even the cruellest things,”says Ashkkar, who plays the character Jagan in it.
Directed by Vadivudayan, the film is getting good responses in Tamil Nadu. “I am grateful to Vadivudayan sir for giving me this character. It had given me a good push in the Tamil film industry. I am glad that people have accepted me,” says Ashkkar. A few days back he had an experience, which helped him understand the impact of his character.
“I went to a local theatre to watch Sowcarpettai. During the interval, when I came out of the theatre, a little girl who was standing with her mother smiled at me. Seeing that, her mother pulled her back saying ‘don’t talk to him. Don’t you see what he did to that girl in the movie? He will kill you like he did to her’. First, I felt a little embarrassed. But, later, I felt happy. That was a compliment,” he elucidates.
In Sowcarpettai, Ashkkar has shared the screen with Suman, Sreekanth and Raai Laxmi. “Initially, I was a little tensed to act alongside big names like Suman sir. But, he was very helpful. It was a learning experience. I will cherish those days,” says Ashkkar who has a few movies in his kitty. “Two Malayalam movies are under discussion,” he says.
