Stephyleon

She has been tagged as a lucky mascot, a look alike of Kangana Ranaut and a specialist in double roles. Stephyleon is more than happy to hear all this. The actor, known for her double roles in serials like Agniputri and Saagaram Sakshi, has become the go-to girl when any role that requires a double appearance springs up. The actor has also acted in a Malayalam film Life directed by her husband Leon and contrary to serial actors who use the mini-screen as a stepping stone to the marquee, Stephyleon has no big aspirations. “I am happy with the roles that I am getting in my serials. I get to do a variety of roles and also enjoy a lead position in the field.

I also feel I get the same recognition and importance that is accorded to actors of the big screen; so I have no complaints!” she says.  In fact Stephyleon’s work in serials is keeping her busy enough that she finds it hard to commit to films. In between, she also took part in the mini-screen reality show Dare the Fear that tests the mental, physical and emotional quotients of the participants by giving them extreme physical dares. Terming the show as a great experience, she says. “To be a part of such an adventure show is a rare opportunity. That I could reach the Super Seven was a big achievement.” Talking about the various tasks that were given to her, she explains her mental state. “I was scared but there was also some confidence because the safety mechanisms were all in place. So I knew I had to go through with the tasks and I prefer to think of the reality show as a journey, but one filled with lots of luck too.”

Talking about the most challenging task she shudders and recalls. “I do not know swimming and am scared of water. But when I knew my teammate depended on me, I had to enter the water.” If you are wondering what task Stephyleon is talking about, she explains, “There was a task where 25 snakes were put in a tank of water along with some coins. We had to get into the tank and collect those coins and put it into a basketball hoop.  That was a very difficult task and I literally burst into tears because of my fear of water but finally completed the task.”

Stephyleon is also an advocate. She finished her LLB but after enrolling could not practice because of her television commitments. But she has decided to get back into the lawyer groove. “I go to the family court along with a senior advocate and do some counseling. I cannot do this regularly but am seeing this more as an opportunity to learn and grow.” In hand is a Tamil serial that will have her playing the lead, produced by Jayam Ravi Productions.
