Kadhal Kan Kattudhe movie review: Cool and breezy film worth a watch
The story of two youngsters who are friends turned lovers and their journey through various situations.
Director: Shivaraj
Cast: KG, Athulya, Shivaraj, Anirudh
It’s a story of two youngsters who are friends turned lovers and their journey through various situations, pleasant as well as turbulent and how they reconcile and learn the true essence of love. Kudos to debut director Shivaraj for coming out with a simple yet well-crafted romantic story that is narrated in a refreshing manner.
Shiva (KG) and Athulya (Athulya) are friends from college. While Athulya is a reporter and a practical person who lives in Pollachi, Shiva is a salesman in Coimbatore and is not very contended with his job. What starts off as friendship to them eventually blooms into romance later. Then there’s this Karthik(Anirudh), a colleague of Athulya who takes a liking for her and proposes one day. Apparently, this doesn’t go well with Shiva and a series of spats and ego clashes lead to their separation. Whether they get back together forms the rest.
Although the entire cast is new, Shivaraj has extracted realistic performances from all and has woven a neat love story. KG and Athulya look pleasing and add authenticity to the characters they play. Athulya has been portrayed as a strong girl and she gets bonus marks for her expressive eyes. Anirudh is equally good. The director has also touched upon the gender-bias issue in a subtle manner.
Songs are pleasing to the ears. Besides writing, acting and directing, Shivaraj has also taken the onus of cinematography and editing which are neat and crisp. The ‘do-it-yourself’ aspect of a hardworking filmmaker is strong here and ought to be commended. Though KKK is the usual romance, breakup, reunion story, what makes it tick is its lively presentation combined with well-written dialogues and appreciable performances from a new set of actors. Overall, a cool and breezy film that is worth a watch!
