Payal Dev, recently sung the recreated version of Saara Zamana for the movie Kaabil. The singer rose to prominence with her debut song Ab Tohe Jaane Na Doongi from the movie Bajirao Mastani, for which she received the award under the category of best debut (female). In a chat, Payal tells us about her musical favourites:

One song that you listen to on repeat mode on your iPod these days:

Dil Kya Kare from the film Julie.

Is there a song you love to listen to when:

You’re happy and upbeat?
High Heels by Meet Bros ft. Jaz Dhami.
You’re really low? Aaj Jane Ki Zid Na Karo by Asha Bhosle.
You’re working out? Chaar Botal Vodka.

How would you describe your taste in music:

My taste in music is romantic. I also like listening to semi-classical. However, on most days, you’ll find me listening to club music.

Your favourite time/way to listen to music during the day:

Depends on my mood for the day (laughs).

Is there any music you used to love as a kid or a teenager that you’re now embarrassed by?

Raat Akeli Hai from Jewel Thief.

One band/musician you want a private concert from:

There are so many great musicians, it is difficult to make a choice.

One live act you would love to see at least once in your life:

Shakira live in concert!

Please recommend your favourite music album to our readers and why:

The soundtrack from the movie Aashiqui 2. The soundtrack is a combination of beautifully written songs — I love each and every song in this whole album. Even today, four years after the release of the album, the songs mean a lot to me. And of course, both music composers (Mithoon and Ankit Tiwari) are my favourites!
