A lucrative job in an IT company is something most job aspirants aim for. The money is undoubtedly good but what happens when you have musical notes humming in your head all day long, leaving you torn between your job and your creative pursuit. While many might do the Maths and feel that a cushy job is a safer option, there are a brave few who prefer to follow their heart and take the leap into something totally unstable but nevertheless exciting.

Vishnu Varma resigned from his job at UST Global to pursue his calling in music and recently came up with a single in Hindi titled as Kahi Na Kahi.  The music video is being featured on MTV Indies right now and has notched up some impressive hits.

Vishnu did not just quit one fine day; it was a well-thought-out decision. He says, “Even while I was working, I, along with a group of friends, started a music troupe which performed several shows in Technopark and we even got an opportunity to perform in front of the Chennai Super Kings team in Bengalaru. I also wanted to step out of my IT job because I realised it was not my cup of tea. A query by my father as to why I was not thinking of taking up music as a career set the ball rolling. Of course, I had my doubts because I was not a professional in the real sense, but I knew I had to take the leap of faith and make a decision!”

Vishnu quit last June and worked with music directors like Gopi Sunder and Vishal Chandrasekhar to gain valuable experience. He sang chorus for some movies and got an insight into the perfection the music industry demanded. Incidentally, Vishnu is a vocalist as well as a composer who had been composing songs from college.

About Kahi Na Kahi, he says, “The song is inspired by a poem written by one of my friends. The cast and crew behind the single are all friends from my previous IT Company.” Asked about deciding to go in for a Hindi song, Vishnu explains, “My cast and crew are from different parts of the country so I thought Hindi would be a better option. Though the song is in Hindi, the visuals are all shot in Kerala.”

That decision worked in Vishnu’s favour because he got a lot of viewers from across India commenting on the video. He reveals, “I have people from Nepal and even far-flung Ecuador commenting on the video.” Vishnu wants to focus on music direction and he is already onto his next project which is a Malayalam single.
