Orange is the new wack
Rock, pop, madness, orange and groove these are the words that best describe Mad Orange Fireworks.
Rock, pop, madness, orange and groove – these are the words that best describe Mad Orange Fireworks, the quirky city-based band. A journey spanning six years, which has been a bumpy ride indeed, has taught the constantly evolving band a great lesson– about keeping it real. In a candid chat with the trio, we find out more about what’s next on the radar just as they prep up for a surprise gig on September 2 at the Humming Tree, Indiranagar.
“Each album of ours has had a different drummer. We’re hoping Danny sticks with us when the third album is out,” quips Kaushik, the bass guitarist of the team. Having performed at over 150 shows, the band continues to create original music that syncs with their title – to rustle up metaphorical fireworks on stage.”The music we create are a mixture of song-writing and sounds. It’s got to do with the way we perceive things. If there’s one thing that we truly believe in, it has got to do with the fact that we believe in keeping it original. There has been a lot of banters in the jam room, but we’re brothers who share a common love for music that matters,” shares Michael Dias, the lead vocalist. Striking a mash between a juncture where pop, blues, jazz, funk and rock meet, Danny adds it’s their similar interests that got them together. “ Kaushik and I have been childhood friends. We grew up bonding over music and listening to works. So, it would be right to say that we’ve has similar music influences.”
Travel buddies first and musicians second. the boys believe in bonding over song writing. “ We are a bunch of crazy fun loving guys who love creating music that people can relate to. But the USP of the band is the wee bit of eccentricity and quirk which we bring to the table. We maintain our very own ‘orange’ renditions of many popular songs - something our fans can enjoy singing along, as well,” states Michael.
While much has been up on the music front, the boys would like to keep it under the wraps. “ Our thirs album is on the cards and we’re just finishing up the last bits of it. We will be performing in Bengaluru after a really long time. All the originals are going to see a neat revamp, there’s a surprise which we wish to burst on stage. That’s all there is to know. So, catch us live!,” signs off Danny.
