Mumbai: Sandalwood has been witnessing a steady growth with an equal blend of commercial and experimental films in the recent past. While it is expanding its horizon to other languages, a good number of talented filmmakers and artists are making their debut.
Nithyasri, who acted in Maniratnam's Tamil film Kaatru Veliyidai and Solo by Bejoy Nambiar is the new addition to the list of artists making their debut in Kannada. She will be seen in the crime thriller titled 'Vrithra' directed by Gautham Iyer, which is scheduled to release on October 11. In fact, she replaces Rashmika Mandanna of the fame of Kirik Party Geetha Govindam after she opted out of it.
Speaking on her debut, director Gautam shares that the team found the actress on the social media! "Rachana, a team member spotted Nithyashri on Instagram. We had no clue about her being an actor but later we realised that she has a strong theatre background with hundred of shows to her credit," he says, adding that Nithyasri has dubbed her own voice for the role she has portrayed.
The crime thriller also features Prakash Belawadi, Sudharani, Tharun Sudhir and others in the lead. The maker signs off saying that there are no good or bad characters in the movie while it is in accordance with the circumstances. To wrap it up, Vrithra means a serpent or demon, who prevents monsoon rains from breaking as per Sanskrit.
