After Kurukshetra, actress Meghana Raj is looking forward to her next two releases, the quirkily-titled Selfie Mummy Google Daddy and Uppi’s Buddhivantha 2. While she’s already shot for the former, in which she stars opposite childhood buddy Srujan Lokesh, the latter will see the actress play a detective opposite Upendra.

Ask her about the funky title of her film with Srujan and she says, “Initially, we didn’t have a name. The working title was called Mobile Chata. But we wanted the name to be more fun and relatable to people. So, after the filming, the entire team sat together and decided to come up with something so quirky that people would sit and wonder what it’s about.” The film, as suggested by the title, is about today’s mobile addiction and obsession. “From techies to film stars and kids, everyone is addicted to technology in different ways. Our film targets upper-middle-class addiction and how children get influenced by mobile-addicted adults. This addiction can cause a lot of damage too. We’ve looked at this subject in a very comical way,” says Meghana, of the flick that promises to be a laugh riot till the very end.

Ask her how it was working on this out-and-out comedy and she replies, “It was absolutely hilarious. Srujan and I are family friends. But I’d not worked with him on a professional level before, so it was even better as he’s my childhood friend. Both of us were extremely comfortable with each other and Srujan is known for cracking jokes, so, I was the target! I’m always the target when he’s around,” quips the actress, who was witness to a a copious amount of ‘pun intended’ jokes during the shoot.

As for Buddhivanta 2, Meghana will be playing a detective in the flick. “We made quite a few changes in the script — initially I was supposed to play a lawyer. We tried improvising and doing something different and finally, we chose the role of the detective in the film. It’s a complete Uppi style movie where you won’t have your usual narration. The tale revolves around my character trying to find this criminal who has a history and a past, but eventually, in the end, you get to know who’s what. It’s a complete mystery, where one of the characters is Uppi sir, the second one is mine and the other one is Aditya’s,” shares the actress, who calls Uppi one of the most unique people she’s ever encountered.

The actress, who’s done a plethora of Malayalam films, is keen on doing films outside KFI too. She’s also signed another next Kannada film, but can only share details post the official announcement.

On the personal front, the stunning lass, posts a lot of updates on social media with her actor husband Chiranjeevi Sarja. “When we aren’t working, we’re always watching films. I was never the avid film watcher. But now, I don’t have an option! There’s always a film we’re watching — either on TV or Netflix or Amazon,” says the artiste, who’d love to do a film with her hubby.

When not binge-watching films together, the duo loves to travel. “I also love to read and my favourite author is Dan Brown. I like feel-good fiction and mysteries,” she signs off.
