Lessons from a star kid's diary!

The showman of Kannada film industry — Crazy Star V. Ravichandran, has not one but three reasons to cheers in 2017 — one being his three ongoing films including his directorial venture, and the second and third is that his two sons — Manoranjan and Vikram, are making their debut in films. Though the Crazy Star had a grand plan for their debuts, both his two sons are now making their debuts in other home productions. Manoranjan is being launched by popular producers Jayanna and Bhogendra under Jayanna Combines and Vikram is being launched by R Srinivas under his banner R S Production. Even as Manoranjan’s debut film Saheba is set to release, he talks about his crazy debut and his brother’s. He also tells us what his parents and his lovely sister had to say about his film and more.

“Though my debut journey started some time ago, it did get a little delayed but I am excited with the outcome of Saheba. Though there is a lot of expectation attached to it for obvious reasons, the film team never ever made me feel nervous about it. It was more of a fun, and work at home experience despite being my first venture.

Prior to this, I underwent training, attended various classes including acting, where I performed several plays including the street plays. Even the technical team (with whom I have been associated with for quite some time) were of great support. It was a great learning experience for me. I have done my best with utmost honesty, and I hope the audience will appreciate my work,” says Manoranjan Ravichandran.

On choosing Saheba, Manoranjan adds that it was his father who pushed him to take it up as he wanted him to prove himself with simple and effective characters rather than larger than life characters. “Saheba is more on the lines of my father’s films like Kanasugara, O Nanna Nalle, and so on. An actor can always take up larger than life characters but I had to make it a point to first win over the hearts of the audience with simple and humble characters which showcase the real me as an actor.

I just play one of the characters in the film, and the story and screenplay are the heroes. Even my father had started off on a similar note before venturing into his ambitious and high budget films,” he adds.

About his younger brother, Vikram, who is making his debut in Novembernalli Nanu Avalu, “He is a born actor and a star. Unlike me, he never took up any acting lessons or went to dancing classes and so on. He has been a real force backing me ever since I took up my debut film. I have nothing to advise him but instead, I seek a lot from him when it comes to acting,” he quips.

He further adds that his father is yet to see the film. but his sister Geethanjali, who is always an honest critic couldn’t believe that it was his first film. “My father and my mother will be watching the film on the day of its release, as I am hoping that all my hard work and my parent’s dreams are realised. My father always insists that to be an actor one must have the passion and love for his work. He made me learn dance from the best. It feels nice when people compliment my dancing skills in the song video released on YouTube.”
