A dancer who decided to follow his dreams of acting, Siddu Moolimani is a hot favourite on the small screen...
It is always better to follow one’s heart when pursuing dreams we love is what this talented actor lives by. He quit his education to pursue his dreams of acting, and has since earned acclaim for multiple roles — in movies, as a participant in reality shows, and acting in teleserials. Actor Siddu Moolimani, who plays the prominent role of Preetham in the current hot favourite drama on Kannada television — Paaru, speaks to Bengaluru Chronicle about his entertaining journey, and more.
“Though I was doing a diploma course (in Computer Science), my interests were different. I would watch movies, enact scenes and even dance to numbers performed by my favourite actors. When I couldn’t concentrate on studies with at least four backlogs, I decided to follow my heart and become a dancer. It was my parents who supported me and helped me chase my dreams. I promised them that I will make it big, and I am glad that I have achieved some of it. I managed to learn dance, and even worked hard as a background dancer for renowned choreographer Harsha Master,” says Siddu Moolimani.
He explains that after performing for corporate events, he felt the need to do something more, and joined theatres. “From dance to acting, the transition was quite exciting. I was a part of several leading theatre groups including Hamsalekha Sir’s group. Then, I signed up for my first-ever serial Bangarada Buguri,” he adds.
Eventually, the small screen appearance led him to his first big break, a cameo role as Pandu in the superhit Kannada venture Rangitaranga.
“Though the role of Pandu was brief, it gave me fame. It resulted in several movie offers where I essayed similar roles. I also played a lead role in Sandalwood’s first ever sci-fi movie based on time travel, titled Torra Torra,” he shares, adding that his upcoming ventures include Lambodhara, where he is cast in a supporting role, and in Sarvajanakarige Suvarnavakasha, which is being made by the Gultoo team. In the film Range BE, M.Tech, from the makers of Chamak and Ayogya, he plays a negative role. His next lead role is in a film which is tentatively titled Nata Natiyaru Bekagiddare.
Elaborating on Paaru, he says that the character is loved by the television audience. “I play the youngest son of a wealthy woman who is very tough with a disciplined personality. Unlike my brother, I am very jovial and lead my life the way I want it. It has humorous shades to it too,” Siddu says.
As he signs off, the actor shares that he has also been a finalist in the dance reality show Kick which was adjudged by Century Star Shivarajkumar, and in another show Bharjari Comedy.
