Interestingly, there are a couple of dubbed films lined up for release during Sankranti 2018, but it looks like they will have to wait.

Of late, many dubbed versions of Tamil and Malayalam films are releasing in Telugu. And some of them like Detective, Gruham and Khakee, end up performing well and generate good revenues too. In fact, on an average, around 75 dubbed films release in Telugu every year and in order to compete with them, the Telugu Film Producers Council (TFPC) has decided to take some steps.

“During festival season, producers and distributors have decided not to encourage the release of dubbed films as they want to give priority to Telugu films,” says a source from the Council.  However, dubbed films can be released a week after the festival weekend, but only if the theatres are vacant, added the source.

Interestingly, there are a couple of dubbed films lined up for release during Sankranti 2018, but it looks like they will have to wait. Even actors Suriya and Vishal plan to release their upcoming Tamil films, and their dubbed Telugu versions together on Sankranti. But now, with this new decision, they may not reach the Telugu audience in January what with at least four Telugu films set to open at the box office around the same time.
