Ace Telugu composer M M. Keeravani will be retaining his original name for his upcoming Tamil film ‘Chandramukhi 2’ featuring Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut and being directed by P Vasu. “I urged Keeravani to retain his original name for our Tamil movie, although he is known as Maragathamani in Tamil filmdom. I clearly told him that I wanted the name that composed great music for blockbusters like “Baahubali’, “RRR,” and ‘Eega’,” said the veteran director in an interview video.

He also disclosed that Keeravani was unwilling to compose the music for ‘Chandramukhi 2’ because composer Vidyasagar scored music for ‘Chandramukhi’ in 2005. “Keeravani himself called Vidyasagar and cleared things with him. Only then did he agree to work for our horror thriller, and he has done a fabulous job,” he adds.

Actually, Keeravani rechristened his name as Maragathamani in the 1990s in Kollywood and belted out chartbusters in Tamil films like ‘Azhagan,’ ‘Jaathi Malli’ and ‘Vaaname Ellai’ by collaborating with ace filmmaker K Balachander.

Interestingly, Keeravani composed music for Hindi films under the name of M M Kreem and delivered musical hits like ‘Criminal,’ ‘Zakhm,’ “Jism’ and “Paheli.’ He was appreciated for his soft and melodious numbers like ‘Tu Mille Dil Khile’ and “Gali Mein Aaj Chand Nikla.’
