Tuntari will be a huge hit: Kumar Nagendra
Kumar Nagendra added that Nara Rohit is playing a boxer in the film.
Director Kumar Nagendra is coming up with his third film Tuntari, starring Nara Rohit. The movie is a remake of Tamil film Maan Karate. “My earlier film Joru didn’t do well and I liked this Tamil film very much,” says Kumar on why he chose the movie.
He has debuted with Gundello Godari, which was critically acclaimed, but like Joru, couldn’t fare well. And he knows why. “Gundello Godari did not work because it didn't connect with the audience. The comedy Joru failed because of poor budget," he says.
But he is highly hopeful of Tuntari, which he says has a good, entertaining story. “The Tamil version is two-and-a-half hours long, but I reduced it to nearly two hours in Telugu. The film revolves around a newspaper and has a fantasy element,” says Kumar.
He added that Nara Rohit is playing a boxer in the film. The Tamil movie is a low-budget film produced by A.R. Murugudoss and went on to collect more than Rs 50 crore.
Asked about the influence of Krishnavamsi, with whom Kumar Nagendra worked with for five films, he says, “I like many directors and not only him... directors like Bapu, Viswanath, Jandhyala, Vamsi and Priyadarshan. I tried Priyadarshan’s comedy in Joru,” he says.
