Anushka has great grasp of scripts'

When P. Mahesh of Ra Raa Krishnayya fame started writing a script a couple of years ago, he did not have any particular actress in mind. “I was open to casting during my writing process. After I was done with the script, I bounced the idea to Anushka Shetty and she liked it,” explains the filmmaker, adding that he gave her a detailed narration later.

After Anushka came on board, Mahesh made a few changes to the character. But apparently the actress wasn’t too keen with those changes. “Anushka wanted me to retain the original script. She felt it was a strong point, and that I should not change it because she was stepping into the role,” elaborates the filmmaker.

However, while interacting with the Baahubali actress, the director understood her grasp of the script, and she suggested a few changes, which he implemented.

“Now that’s experience; Anushka garu has vast knowledge and command over scripts. In the process I have also evolved as a writer,” he says. Mahesh is tight-lipped about the film’s genre.

“It’s a new-age film on a subject that everyone’s talking about and touches today’s life” is all that he will reveal. He says having Anushka on board has elevated the film, and he’s looking forward to directing her.
