Another period film for Rana
Work on this film will commence soon while the shoot will begin in mid-2018.
Rana sure seems to have a love for period dramas. After starring in Rudhram-adevi and Ghazi, he is presently filming 1945, another period film that is a love story based in the war backdrop of pre-independent India. There’s also talk of him being a part of Gunasekhar’s film on Hiranya-kashyapa. Now, the latest is that the actor has signed yet another period film!
This time, Rana will play Marthanda Varma, one of the most celebrated rulers of Travancore, who is most known for the Battle of Colachel in 1741 where he crushed Dutch expansionists. The victory in this war was said to be resounding. The king is also known for reconstructing the Padmana-bhaswamy temple as the gigantic structure it is today.
“When Rana heard the script, he was very excited by it. He has always been interested in folk tales and history and that’s one reason he is very inclined to periodic films,” shares a source.
To be titled Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the film will be directed by K. Madhu, with a story written by Robin Tirumala. Work on this film will commence soon while the shoot will begin in mid-2018.
