The NTR biopic has only been getting more and more colossal since the announcement of the project. Though director Teja’s exit from the film has caused a bit of a delay, the film’s makers haven’t taken it to be a major setback.
Balakrishna will play his father N.T. Rama Rao in the film and Vidya Balan will play NTR’s wife Basavatharakam. According to a source, Rana Daggubati has been approached to play NTR’s son-in-law N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

“The producers met with Rana Daggubati and discussed the role. Rana has expressed an interest in taking it up, but they’re still at the discussion stage. Rana’s confirmation may come within a week,” the source said.

The filmmakers are planning to make some big announcements on May 28, the birth anniversary of the legendary actor-turned-politician, and Rana’s casting may be one of them.

“They have finally found a senior, established director for the project. His name will also be announced on May 28,” the source revealed. It was believed that if a suitable replacement for Teja was not found, the biopic would be directed by Balakrishna himself.

Vishnu Induri, the producer of the film, confirmed that Vidya Balan had allotted dates from July onwards for the project, but he refused to address any of the other rumours. “I can’t talk about the film. All I can say is that it will surely be released on Sankranti 2019,” he said.
