Unleashing a tirade against the State Government for failing to encourage artistes, veteran director-producer Dasari Narayana Rao criticised the government for not giving away the state film awards.

At the venue of the Santosh Film Awards, Dasari said, “The government completely ignores the film awards which encourage artistes. These awards are a big boost to film persons to showcase their talent.”

Showering praises on the private organisations, especially Kondeti Suresh, for honouring Tollywood with awards, he recalled that in fact, the very tradition of giving awards was initiated by the state government.

The awards for the best actor and villain were given to Prabhas and Rana Daggubati respectively for Baahubali. Koratala Siva bagged the best director award for Srimanthudu, while Rudhramadevi was adjudged the best film and Anushka became the best actress for portraying the character.
