Director Sampath Nandi may have made typical commercial potboilers like Racha and Bengal Tiger in the past, but his latest release Gautham Nanda, starring Gopichand is making him more nervous than ever.

“With both the earlier films, I was confident that they were commercial films and would work. But this time, I have tried something new within the commercial parameters, and that’s making me a wee bit tensed. I am excited too. But really tense,” he shares.

Apparently, the attempt to try something new was a very conscious move for him. “I wanted to work on something content-based. And that’s one reason I really gave my all. The amount of research I did to get things right for this film is phenomenal. Within our budget limitations, we even got Gopichand to try adventure sports. This film is really close to my heart,” he says.

Interestingly, the film features a rain song, which seems to have become a pattern with Sampath, as both Racha and Bengal Tiger feature similar sequences. He laughs and replies, “Yes, I have noticed that too! Also, the song comes a bit after the interval. But I don’t intend to make it my signature. You’ll see something new next time.”
